News from the Ranch

I hope that you are doing as well as you can considering the difficult circumstances we are all experiencing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We want you to know we are praying regularly for all our campers and their families. If you have specific prayer requests, please call or email the Ranch – we would love to hear from you.

Along with of our two on-site staff, Chancy and Josiah, I wanted to write you to update you on what is happening with us as we follow the province’s state of emergency plan and adhere to all required guidelines.

The Ranch will remain closed until we are given permission to open. All our spring groups have been cancelled and we don’t anticipate opening until the end of June at the earliest. Like so many businesses, we have lost quite a bit of money because of this closure. Even more than that, we grieve the loss of opportunity to provide hospitality and care to all the groups who planned to spend time here.

Josiah and Chancey have been working all winter at the Ranch and are continuing to serve faithfully. They are caring for our horses and animals, working on projects around the site and keeping our office running. We are so grateful for their faithfulness and hard work in this season. They are doing an amazing job.

We are still hoping and praying that we will be able to open in time for summer camp. We continue to interview summer staff even though we can only offer positions conditionally. Our staff and volunteers are eager to come back to serve campers this summer.

Given all the uncertainties, we made the difficult decision to postpone the hiring of a new director. However, we are putting plans in place for a strong team to run camp through the summer. We will resume the search for a new director once we have a clearer sense of direction from the government about reopening. We did conduct some hopeful interviews just before the pandemic shut everything down. Please pray that God will lead the right person to us.

We are applying for available government assistance to help us keep all our staff across the country employed during this time. We also ask for your prayers for provision of this help.

We also want to stay connected to campers and families. We’ve created some resources and activities so that you can do CAMP @ HOME with your family! Keep checking back and share with your friends as we are going to be adding more Camp @ Home resources in the coming weeks. You can also follow us on Facebook or Instagram for more updates.

Your prayers are so important to us as we seek to honour God during this season.  We know that finances can be difficult right now but if you are led to support us financially during this time you can do so online at or call the office at 306-698-2662.

With gratitude,
Calvin Bennett
Vice-President, Camps
