More than 100 staff and volunteers join our full time staff each summer to help make Circle Square Ranch an exciting, fun and safe camping experience for the several hundred youth who attend our programs.

Summer Volunteer Opportunities...

 
As a staff member you can expect to work hard, make great friends, and see God work both in your own life and in the lives of children and young people in a powerful way. Summer positions are on a volunteer basis but there are many opportunities to receive compensation while working at camp. Please indicate your interest in finding out more when you apply.

 
Staff and volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and are selected through a thorough hiring process including an online application, interview and police check. Once accepted, all staff are required to participate in a comprehensive training program. Ongoing evaluation continues throughout the course of their commitment.

We will have Pre-Season Staff (14 week) positions for:

 

Head Cook

Reports to: Kitchen Manager

Responsible for: Help with menu planning, preparation of meals, cleanliness of kitchen, maintaining meal schedule, for investing in Assistant Cook and Kitchen Staff and coordinating with Program Team.

Horsemanship Director

Reports to: Year Round Program Director

Responsible for: Entirety of the operation of the Horsemanship Department including Horsemanship Staff, Horsemanship Program, health and welfare of the horses. Also responsible for leading departmental Bible studies, development of Horsemanship Staff and improvement of Horsemanship Program. Will be required to help with the organization and execution of chores, all horsemanship related activities (rodeo) and work with Assistant Horsemanship Director and Program Directors to plan and organize teaching schedule for Wagon and Junior Camps.

Administration Coordinator

Reports to: Year Round Administration Director

Responsible for: Assist all department heads concerning secretarial needs, rancher registration procedures, school group rentals, phone messages, receptionist, mail sorting and organizing of followup information.

Spring Program Staff/ Wagon Camp Director

Reports to: Year Round Program Director

May and June: Host and lead school groups, help lead activities, meals, and assist in kitchen and maintenance of site.

July and August: Responsible for the entirety of Wagon Camp, assist the Head Councillors in staff care and discipline, develop and execute camper and staff devotions as well as campfire and work with Year Round Program Directors to recruit and develop staff.

Spring Program Staff/ Junior Camp Director

Reports to: Year Round Program Director

May and June: Host and lead school groups, help lead activities, meals, assist in kitchen and maintenance of site.

July and August: Responsible for the entirety of Junior Camp, assist the head councilors in staff care and discipline, develop and execute camper and staff devotions as well as campfire and work with Year Round Program Directors to recruit and develop staff.

Spring Program Staff/ Summer Position

Reports to: Year Round Program Director

May and June: Host and lead school groups, help lead activities, meals, assist in kitchen and maintenance of site.

July and August: July and August positions will be dependent upon summer needs and individual’s gifting.

The months of May and June are an exciting and unique time to be at Circle Square Ranch! Pre-Season Staff help in the leading and hosting of school groups as well as the general preparation for the summer months. Pre-Season Staff undergo a thorough hiring process including an online application, interview and police check. Pre-Season Staff must be open to increased leadership roles and responsibilities.

Wagon Program Director

Report to: Wagon Camp Director

Responsible for: Design and implementation of entire program schedule for Wagon Camp as well as develop creative themes for weeks. This involves close coordinating across various departments (kitchen, horse, recreation) while also coordinating time off and other duties. The Wagon Program Director is responsible for evening wide game.

Wagon Head | Boy & Girl

Reports to: Wagon Camp Director

Responsible for: Staff care of respectable wagon leaders, being an available resource for Wagon Leaders to help with camper behaviour, assisting with Bible study, activity leading, campfire, theme, as well as evening program. Lives in Wagon site, however not responsible for individual wagon.

Wagon Recreation Coordinator

Reports to: Wagon Program Director

Responsible for: Working closely with Wagon Program Director to lead and organize the different activities, making sure that activities are led properly and safely, maintaining equipment and reporting broken equipment.

Junior Program Director

Reports to: Junior Camp Director

Responsible for: Design and implementation of entire program schedule for Junior Camp as well as developing creative themes for weeks. This involves close coordinating across various departments (kitchen, horse, recreation) while also coordinating time off and other duties. The Program Director is responsible for evening wide game.

Junior Head Counsellor

Reports to: Junior Camp Director

Responsible for: Staff care for all room leaders, being an available resource for room leaders to help with camper behaviour, assisting with Bible study, activity leading, campfire, theme, as well as evening program. Lives in hotel, however not responsible for individual rooms.

Junior Recreation Coordinator

Reports to: Junior Program Director

Responsible for: Work closely with Junior Program Director to lead and organize the different activities, make sure that activities are led properly and safely, maintain equipment and report broken equipment.

Assistant Horsemanship Director

Reports to: Horsemanship Director

Responsible for: Feeding, horse training, teaching horsemanship, general assistant in all areas, work with Horsemanship Director to plan and organize teaching schedule for Wagon and Junior Camp, assist in supervising rancher during Staff Meetings and after campfire as scheduled, morning round-up, assist in chores and all horsemanship related activities (rodeo).

Wagon Leader

Reports to: Head Girl/Boy Wagon Program Director

Responsible for: Spiritual leadership in own wagon, maintaining discipline among ranchers, daily wagon cleanliness, motivating ranchers to be active participants in all areas of program, participating in activities, Bible studies, campfire and rodeo, etc.

Junior Room Leader

Reports to: Head Counsellor, Junior Program Director

Responsible for: Spiritual leadership in own room, maintaining discipline among ranchers, daily room cleanliness, motivating ranchers to be active participants in all areas of program, participating in activities, Bible studies, campfire and rodeo, etc.

Horsemanship Staff

Reports to: Horsemanship Director, Assistant Horsemanship Director

Assistant Cook

Reports to: Head Cook

Responsible for: Assist with meal preparation and serving, maintain meal schedule, cleanliness of kitchen and health code.

Maintenance Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Responsible for: Upkeep & repair of ranch grounds, building, equipment, machinery and vehicles, supervise maintenance staff and lead different work projects.

Maintenance Staff

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Responsible for: Assist Maintenance Manager, landscaping, haying, fencing, small construction, land development, help prepare nightly campfires and weekly cookout, setup and cleanup of weekly rodeo and assist in supervising ranchers during Staff Meetings and after campfire.

*Can be under 16 years old.

Medical Staff

Reports to: Camp Directors, Year Round Program Directors

Responsible for: Receive medication at registration, dispense medication for ranchers and staff as needed, work with Administrative Coordinator to compile a list of rancher illness or needs beginning of each week, maintain up-to-date medical records, helping file and collect medical forms for ranchers and staff and is available at all times for emergencies.

Life Guard

Reports To: Summer Program Director

Responsibility: Hold an appropriate and current level of qualifications, maintain safety and control of swimming area, help maintain and upkeep water front, help lead and organize water games and swimming activities, etc.

Kitchen Staff

Reports to: Head Cook, Assistant Cook

Responsible for: Maintain kitchen cleanliness, dishes and pots, assist in meal preparation, serving meals and meal cleanup.

*Can be under 16 years old.

Housekeeper

Reports to: Executive Directors

Responsible for: Cleanliness of entire ranch facility other than staff rooms, washroom sanitation, refill of paper towels and toilet dispensers and ranch laundry (as per laundry schedule).

*Can be under 16 years old.

Store Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Responsible for: Daily operation of store/Canteen, operate cash register during store hours and on weekends, weekly inventory restocking of confection items, cleanliness of store, preparation of items for rodeo concession booth and accounting, maintaining rancher/staff accounts and balancing cash register.

Canteen Staff

Reports to: Store Manager

Responsible for: Daily operation of store/Canteen, operate cash register during store hours and on weekends, cleanliness of store, preparation of items for rodeo concession booth, assist housekeeper with laundry as needed.

*Can be under 16 years old.
