“THE VOICE: CAMP EDITION” CHALLENGE
Indoor/Outdoor Activity for All Ages
Are you ready to put your performing skills to the test? We’re inviting all of our campers (and their families) to participate in our camp-wide singing and cheering challenge!
To join in on the fun, all you’ll need to do is perform your favourite camp song or cheer on video, just the way you like it. It’s time to warm up your vocal chords, dust off your dancing shoes and show us your best rendition of your favourite camp classic.
What You’ll Need:
The lyrics to your favourite camp song or cheer. Think back to your favourites from summer’s past!
A recording device to film your performance, such as a video or phone camera
A designated set for your video, whether it’s a room (or a couple rooms) in your home or outside in your backyard
Willing participants to star with you in your video, such as your parents, siblings, or the family pet
Any props, visuals, or outfits that you’d like to feature in the video (get creative with this one!)
1. The first step is deciding on the overall concept of your video. There are many different ways to approach this challenge and we encourage you to think outside of the box. Do you want to film a choreographed performance? A singing competition parody? A collaborative duet? A Tik Tok lip synced routine? Visit our “Some Fun Ideas” section below if you’re looking for some ideas.
2. Next, brainstorm the flow of your video and how you want the finished product to look. For example, if you’re planning to film a lyric video, you’ll need to think about all of the different ways to showcase every lyric in the video.
A great way to plan this out is by writing down or drawing out all of the different scenes in the video and the order in which they’ll appear. Afterwards, note all of the people or props that will be needed for each scene.
3. Once you’ve nailed down the concept, we suggest practicing your performance before hitting the record button. Once you’re ready, find a family member to film or set up your own makeshift tripod. Film as many takes as you want until you’re happy with the final result. You can film the entire video in one take, or you can film multiple takes if you’re planning to edit the video and piece it all together (we suggest this for our older campers who have experience or interest in video editing). We highly recommend keeping your video under 2 minutes (or 1 minute for Tik Tok recordings), so you can post them on social media for everyone to see!
4. When your video is complete, share it on Facebook or Instagram and tag us to join the challenge. You can also send us a direct message with the video link on either of our platforms.
Some Fun Ideas
Are you looking for some inspiration for your video submission? Here are some concepts that you can repurpose for your own video:
Film a choreographed performance of a camp song or cheer that features your own unique dance moves.
Film a lyric video that features every single lyric of the camp song or cheer as you sing along to it.
Film a virtual collaboration or duet with other campers, which showcases different people performing different parts of the song or cheer.
Film a parody of your favourite singing competition. You can even cast some of your family members as judges, audience members or hosts of the show.
Film a camp song or cheer rendition as if you’re in a camp movie (think “Camp Rock” and those epic cafeteria or campfire moments).
If you’d like to participate in the “The Voice: Camp Edition” challenge, don’t forget to share your videos with us by tagging us on Facebook at @CircleSquareRanchWolfCreek and Instagram at @wolfcreekcsr or sending us a direct message with your video. We can’t wait to be wowed by all of your performances!
